The San Diego Foundation, a 40-year-old community foundation that has awarded more than $1 billion in grants, sought greater efficiency across fundraising, relationship management, and finance to better serve donors and staff. The organization needed improved mobile access, streamlined month‑end and reconciliation processes, and a reduced IT burden to support remote work and scale its operations.
The Foundation migrated from on‑premises systems to Blackbaud’s cloud NXT suite (Raiser’s Edge NXT for development and Financial Edge NXT for fund accounting), gaining mobile functionality, Work Center productivity tools, automated bank feeds, and real‑time reporting. The change enabled a seamless shift to remote work during COVID‑19, improved donor insights and fundraising workflow, sped up financial reconciliation, and eliminated local server maintenance—freeing resources to focus on impact and future goals.
