A Blackbaud Case Study
The Richard H. Driehaus Museum, which preserves and showcases late-19th/early-20th-century architecture and design, had implemented the Altru system in 2011 but found staff were not fully leveraging its capabilities as the museum grew. After an Altru consultant visit highlighted untapped opportunities, the museum turned to Blackbaud University training to deepen staff skills and optimize their use of the platform.
Through online and virtual instructor-led courses, staff — including membership coordinator Richard Leas — built automated queries and workflows in Altru to track renewals and donations, generate timely personalized renewal letters, and notify staff of key member visits. These changes saved significant staff time, improved constituent tracking and communication, and enabled plans for recognizing long-term supporters.
