The Raiser’s Edge Enables National Museums Liverpool to Consolidate Contacts, Save Money and Increase Efficiency

National Museums Liverpool (NML), a multi-venue national museum trust with over one million objects, faced growing difficulties managing supporter data and communications. Although they had purchased The Raiser's Edge after years using MS Access and similar systems, staff lacked the experience to use it fully, leading to manual, repetitive processes, data fragmentation across venues and the risk of duplicate mailings.

Senior management consolidated contacts into a centrally managed Raiser's Edge system, hired a database manager, added modules and customisations, and introduced in-house training to ensure consistent use. The result is a single, multi-site database giving a 360° view of supporters, elimination of duplication, and major efficiency gains: supporters grew from 4,000 to over 45,000 in eight years with only one additional staff hire, and address standardisation via MailWise saved nearly £2,000 in one year.
