The Gateway for Cancer Research, a nonprofit funding patient-centered cancer studies, needed help turning event participants into fundraisers. With little familiarity with Blackbaud’s TeamRaiser tools and no email strategy for recruiting or fundraising, the organization was unsure how to communicate effectively with participants ahead of its inaugural cycling event.
By enrolling in Blackbaud’s Go! TeamRaiser program the Gateway gained hands-on training, strategic guidance, and email best practices (including participant segmentation and personalized messaging). The result: the Trails 4 Trials cycling event exceeded expectations—580 registrants (vs. a 500 goal) and $230,000 raised overall (including $55,000 from participant fundraising)—while expanding the organization’s supporter base and building repeatable communications capabilities.
