The American University of Paris (AUP) is an international liberal arts university in the heart of Paris that relies on tuition and alumni support. Faced with a highly transient alumni base—about 15,000 contacts including roughly 9,000 alumni, most living outside France—and limited online engagement until 2009, the development office needed a clear strategy and tools to connect, engage and communicate more effectively.
AUP implemented Blackbaud NetCommunity Grow integrated with The Raiser’s Edge, launching a new website with member registration, alumni services (news, events, mentoring, careers, regional groups) and analytics to track email and web activity. Within two months nearly 10% of alumni had registered, the first-month 5,000-email campaign enabled data cleansing, and the electronic newsletter sees about a 20% open rate—making the site central to AUP’s alumni engagement and marketing strategy.
