Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, which supports one of Florida’s largest public health systems and is leading a $75M "Leading with Care" campaign, faced a major operational gap: fundraising was cloud-based but fund accounting remained paper‑driven. Paper timecards, invoices and duplicate Excel entries led to errors, wasted staff time and limited the foundation’s ability to budget by project or provide transparent stewardship to donors.

The foundation implemented Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT (and Blackbaud Grantmaking), automating credit‑card posting, expense approvals, project/GL mapping and bulk journal/budget uploads via Excel add‑ins. The changes eliminated duplicated data entry, improved financial transparency and reporting, increased donor confidence (supporting recurring gifts), saved staff time, and strengthened stewardship for the campaign ( $55.5M raised toward the $75M goal as of May 2021).
