Reality Changers is a San Diego–area nonprofit that prepares students from disadvantaged backgrounds for college and career success—over 2,400 graduates have attended nearly 130 colleges and received more than $140 million in scholarships and aid. Facing the need to attract new supporters and boost mid-year fundraising beyond its loyal donor base, the organization launched a Founder’s Day of Giving tied to its 18th anniversary and the milestone year for many alumni.

Reality Changers implemented Blackbaud Peer-to-Peer Fundraising, a free, easy-to-integrate platform, and mobilized alumni and volunteers to run personal campaigns. The effort exceeded the fundraising goal by nearly 30%, with 60% of gifts coming from new donors, while increasing alumni engagement and community connections.
