A Blackbaud Case Study
The Prostate Cancer Foundation, the world's largest philanthropic supporter of prostate cancer research, sought to expand its online presence to educate the public, provide comprehensive information on prevention, detection and treatment, and create easy ways for supporters to donate and participate. The organization needed a site that would reinforce its role as the leading authority and resource on prostate cancer while supporting fundraising and outreach initiatives.
Using Blackbaud Sphere, the Foundation built customizable donation and registration forms, launched targeted email campaigns, published real-time content and online tributes, and deployed Sphere Events to start Athletes for a Cure. As a result, online giving grew an average of 125% annually from 2004–2008, newsletter subscribers rose 475% in the first year, the site achieved #1 Google ranking with over 120,000 monthly visitors, and Athletes for a Cure expanded from 421 participants in 2006 to nearly 3,000 in 2008, raising almost $1 million.
