Plan Canada Gets Enterprise-Level Data Analysis with Blackbaud Performance Management

Plan Canada, part of the global Plan International movement, manages a large child‑sponsorship program with roughly 160,000 donors, 190,000 active recurring gifts and one million constituent records accumulated over 15 years. Rapid growth (C$106.5M raised in 2008–09) produced more than 1.8 million transactions and 370,000 tracked mail pieces annually, and the organization’s legacy reporting was slow, labor‑intensive and unable to compare performance across timeframes or channels.

Plan Canada implemented Blackbaud Performance Management on Microsoft SQL Server to aggregate data into ready‑made cubes, dashboards and scorecards and rolled out the solution in about a month. The result: near‑real‑time, self‑service reporting with drill‑down access, daily (instead of weekly) reports, lifetime donor and channel analysis, SharePoint integration and easy export to Office tools—freeing IT to build new reports and enabling faster, better decision‑making across marketing, development, programs and corporate teams.
