Norfolk SPCA, founded in 1892, provides veterinary clinics and rehomes about 1,500–1,700 companion animals annually across Hampton Roads, relying entirely on community support. The organization needed to manage 18,000+ constituent records, convert adopters into donors, better target appeals, and improve stewardship of legacy and event prospects.
By adopting Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT and Blackbaud University training, Norfolk SPCA standardized procedures, used data-driven segmentation and event tools (capturing 155 attendees from its Witches & Whiskers event) to identify and engage high‑value prospects. The approach improved donor stewardship—leading to a $5,000 gift and a $5,000 pledge from a legacy donor—strengthened outreach efforts, and increased confidence in growing corporate support beyond its 115 annual organizational donors.
