Next Move is a Sacramento nonprofit founded in 1972 that provides temporary and permanent housing and individual success plans to prevent homelessness and keep families together. The organization relied on manual processes for years and needed an easy-to-learn system to manage volunteer growth, staff turnover, and to streamline reporting and community communications.

They implemented Blackbaud eTapestry for its reporting, built-in email tools, and support, enabling formal tracking of monetary and in‑kind donations, custom queries, and targeted e-newsletters/thank-you communications. The result was more accurate campaign and event reporting, stronger community engagement, and increased support — their newsletter list grew to over 2,000 (nearly doubled in five years) and the organization has been better able to sustain and expand programs like the Women’s Refuge.
