A Blackbaud Case Study
Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) is a Canada-based nonprofit founded in 1953 that helps end global poverty by funding and growing small and mid-sized businesses in developing countries, with a focus on women, children and the rural poor. MEDA needed a credit-card payment solution that integrated with its Raiser’s Edge and NetCommunity databases, handled both Canadian and U.S. dollars across multiple offices, and supported last-minute, mobile payments at its annual convention—tasks that were previously done on paper and required time-consuming manual entry and reconciliation.
MEDA implemented Blackbaud Merchant Services and Blackbaud MobilePay, allowing payments to flow directly into Raiser’s Edge and to be processed on an iPad with automatic syncing. The integration eliminated duplicate data entry, provided detailed disbursement reports for easier month-end reconciliation, reduced hours of administrative work each week, sped up convention transactions, and freed resources to reinvest in programs.
