A Blackbaud Case Study
Marshfield Clinic Health System, a century‑old Wisconsin health network, needed better ways to mobilize its enthusiastic base of patients and community advocates and to capture donor information from social and peer‑to‑peer efforts. The challenge was activating volunteer fundraisers, attributing gifts (especially from social channels), and gaining donor insights while keeping the donor experience simple.
As an early adopter of Blackbaud’s JustGiving peer‑to‑peer solution (plus related Blackbaud tools), Marshfield enabled supporters to create personalized fundraising pages, share stories, and submit gifts easily—while staff could capture and import donor data. The results: volunteers exceeded an ALS event goal by 335% (raising more than $6,700, with one organizer nearly $3,000), the number of volunteer fundraisers increased, and annual volunteer fundraising grew to over $431,000 in 2018 (up from $287,000 in 2017), with improved donor insight and time savings for staff.
