Lowcountry Food Bank - Customer Case Study

Blackbaud’s Product Management team used its 2011 kickoff to tackle hunger in their community. After touring the Lowcountry Food Bank to better understand nonprofit needs and how technology supports their work, the team pledged to help provide meals for people facing food insecurity, committing initially to raise 1,000 meals.

They launched a Brown Bag Food Drive with Team Blackbaud Charleston, asking employees to donate five cans or $5 in exchange for a brown-bag lunch; Sodexo and Limehouse Produce supported the event. The campaign far exceeded expectations—150 lunches were served and donations ultimately provided the equivalent of 48,341 meals—and spurred additional volunteer projects, including food reclamation and preparing 350+ salads for Community Servings.
