How the University of South Carolina is connecting solutions in the cloud

The University of South Carolina, a large public university with 16 colleges on its flagship campus and seven regional campuses, needed to connect disparate advancement, award management, and fund accounting systems to improve data visibility, governance, and cross‑campus collaboration. The initiative also had to address cloud security, risk management, and single sign‑on while enabling remote work during the COVID‑19 pandemic.

UofSC implemented Blackbaud’s Cloud Solution for Higher Education—Blackbaud CRM on Microsoft Azure plus Financial Edge NXT and Blackbaud Award Management—using a structured change‑management approach and open APIs to integrate systems, enable SSO, and connect BI tools and Microsoft Teams. As a result, the university achieved synchronized data flows (including approved scholarship transfers into fundraising), unified dashboards, clearer stewardship and messaging, improved transparency and collaboration across campus, and a more resilient virtual environment.
