Folds of Honor Supports Those Who Need It Most

Folds of Honor, a nonprofit that awards educational scholarships to spouses and children of U.S. service members killed or disabled in active duty, saw donations surge to about 14,000 gifts in 2014 (a 75% increase over 2012). The volume overwhelmed its Donor Services team: much gift data was entered manually into eTapestry and its prior processor’s inconsistent fee reporting made credit card reconciliation “a mess.”

The organization moved to Blackbaud Merchant Services and expanded eTapestry use, gaining pre-reconciled bank deposits that show gross, fees, and net for every card (including American Express) and more flexible reporting. The change eliminated hours of weekly reconciliation, improved campaign- and state-level reporting, and is expected to save roughly $18,000 a year — money that will fund additional scholarships.
