A Blackbaud Case Study
Friends of Greenwood Public Library in Greenwood, Ind. (community ~28,000) faced shrinking tax and government funding and a limited donor pool, but had little in‑house fundraising experience. To fill the budget gap the organization needed to engage individual donors and build a sustainable fundraising program quickly.
Partnering with Benevon and using Benevon’s Next Step web application powered by eTapestry, the library implemented a simple, relationship-based model—point-of-entry tours, scripted follow-up calls, Ask events and ongoing cultivation—managed through the Next Step database. In under two years the grassroots campaign attracted more than 115 donors who pledged approximately $110,000 over five years, grew the contact database to about 400 people, and improved the library’s ability to track communications, gifts and donor engagement.
