A Blackbaud Case Study
Convio, an Austin-based company known for its annual Convio Cares Week, sought to mobilize employees around community service and help address local needs—most notably improving access to healthy food in east Austin—while maintaining a strong culture of giving after joining Blackbaud. The challenge was coordinating large-scale volunteer engagement across locations and supporting nonprofit projects that required significant hands-on work.
Convio partnered with the Entrepreneurs Foundation and local nonprofits like the Sustainable Food Center to organize service projects during Convio Cares Week and the Spring Service Day. More than 79% of Convio’s 400+ employees volunteered, contributing 2,700 hours (an estimated $57,000 in in-kind service), supplying 25% of the 600 Spring Service Day volunteers, and completing work such as spreading 100+ cubic yards of mulch, cleaning 6,000 bricks, and laying 100 cubic yards of decomposed granite to help establish a new community garden and teaching center.
