Carry The Load is a nonprofit that honors U.S. military, veterans, first responders, and their families through events like the Memorial May National Relay, a multi-route, cross‑country peer‑to‑peer fundraiser. While using Blackbaud TeamRaiser to power registrations and participant pages, the organization sought better participant engagement, web‑savviness, leadership and fundraising effectiveness across its large, distributed event.

They added Good Move, a gamified activity‑tracking mobile app integrated with TeamRaiser (and supported by Blackbaud Merchant Services and Luminate Online), to let participants track miles, sync fitness devices, and engage via live leaderboards. Good Move users logged 35,000 miles, accounted for 26% of donations, and raised on average 46% more than nonusers ($168 more); 58% of Good Move adopters raised funds versus 31% of nonusers, team captains raised 21% more, and the organization plans to expand the app to other programs.
