A Blackbaud Case Study
Bruce Irons Camp Fund (BICF) is a Charlotte nonprofit that provides five‑year summer camp and follow‑up programs to help low‑income fourth–eighth graders stay on grade level and graduate. Faced with an executive director working part‑time, manual administrative processes, reliance on a community foundation to process online donations (with fees and no integration), and time‑consuming bank reconciliations and duplicate data entry, BICF sought a web‑based solution to save time and money and refocus staff on its mission.
BICF implemented Blackbaud eTapestry for fundraising and Blackbaud Merchant Services with OneRATE for integrated credit‑card processing. The combined solution eliminated duplicate entry, provided pre‑reconciled deposits, improved data integrity with PCI compliance, and reduced transaction costs—savings that go back into the program. As a result, staff work more efficiently, fundraising is streamlined, and BICF can better support its growing roster (67 participants in 2012, 80 planned in 2013).
