A Blackbaud Case Study
The National Scouting Museum, established in 1959 as the official museum of the Boy Scouts of America, preserves more than a century of Scouting history. In 2015 the museum faced a ticketing crisis when Ticketmaster Vista was discontinued; the product had not met expectations, forced the team to handle over 10,000 registrations by phone, and sometimes cost staff more than 30 hours per week—preventing the museum from offering online sales or expanding programs.
The museum adopted Altru through the Boy Scouts of America’s existing contract and leveraged Blackbaud Community support and Blackbaud University training to build staff skills. The switch enabled online sales and streamlined financial reconciliation, freed staff from heavy phone workloads, and allowed the museum to launch popular STEM and Scout advancement workshops that now sell out and connect thousands more children to its programs.
