Boosting Implementation Excitement with Incentives

Vizient, a healthcare performance and supply‑chain company, wanted to reinvigorate its long‑standing employee volunteer program while launching its first engagement platform. The challenge was to generate excitement and drive widespread adoption of the new YourCause-based CSR platform across the organization.

Vizient ran a teaser campaign and company‑wide webinar, introduced a superhero theme, and used a simple engagement incentive—employees voted on a volunteer T‑shirt design and immediately received a $25 Cause Card to donate to a nonprofit. Combined with five days of paid volunteer time off and platform demos, the approach drove repeat visits, issued 1,230 Cause Cards totaling $30,750 to 1,138 nonprofits, and produced a 63% employee participation rate—41% higher than the industry average—within seven months.
