A Blackbaud Case Study
The Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF), the nation’s largest organization focused solely on bone health, manages roughly 300,000 constituent records but struggled with poor data hygiene and email deliverability. When BHOF reviewed its database it found thousands of duplicates (about 5,300 initially), stale addresses and spam-trap hits, and relied on a time-consuming annual cleanup that hurt outreach and campaign performance.
BHOF implemented Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT’s automated data health and duplicate-management tools and activated the built-in integration with Blackbaud Luminate Online (including Engagement Factors for segmentation). The change cut manual dedupe from ~40 hours to about five minutes daily, removed 12,000+ duplicate emails, maintained a zero-duplicate count, improved inbox deliverability, and boosted engagement—sending half as many emails while tripling read rates—leading to stronger fundraising results and greater confidence in their data.
