Be The Match is the world’s leading nonprofit for marrow and umbilical cord blood transplantation, managing the largest and most diverse bone marrow registry and fundraising to help patients afford transplants and support research. When enthusiastic supporters began organizing their own fundraisers—sometimes using the organization’s logo—Be The Match needed a way to channel that energy and coach supporters to be effective fundraisers.

Using Blackbaud’s TeamRaiser platform, Be The Match launched Team Be The Match, a DIY peer-to-peer site with five program types and automated, personalized email coaching to guide supporters through fundraising steps. The program raised $90,000 in its first 90 days, and the organization is now focused on refining which program types attract supporters and improving personalized donor stewardship for sustained engagement.
