A Blackbaud Case Study
The Battleship Texas Foundation, which took over operations of the historic Battleship Texas in 2020, is leading a $75 million restoration to turn the ship into a premier museum. After moving ticketing and visitor services away from the state, the foundation found its basic donor database insufficient and needed an integrated system that could handle ticketing, memberships, and international transactions to support fundraising and visitor engagement.
The foundation deployed Blackbaud Altru, Blackbaud Merchant Services, and ResearchPoint to manage ticketing and memberships, process multi-currency payments, and identify major-donor prospects through predictive modeling and wealth screening. Those tools supported dry-dock tours that raised $630,000 from 4,300 constituents in just over 15 months and helped the capital campaign generate more than $6 million in 12 months, while also improving board reporting and donor-targeting for ongoing fundraising toward a $15 million campaign goal.
