A Blackbaud Case Study
The Australian Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (AMDF) created The Bloody Long Walk, a 35km peer-to-peer event, to raise awareness of mitochondrial disease and grow support beyond the Mito community. With a small team, AMDF needed a donor-management system to organise participants, track donations and communicate effectively as the event scaled.
By combining Heroix’s peer-to-peer fundraising platform with Blackbaud’s eTapestry donor-management system, AMDF streamlined supporter pages, tracking and communications. The event grew from 350 participants raising $95,000 in 2013 to 2,300 participants and $480,000 in 2014 (50% of AMDF’s 2014 funds, forecasted to be 65% in 2015), while the organisation’s contact database expanded from roughly 2,000 active contacts to nearly 20,000 once previously untracked supporters were consolidated.
