A Blackbaud Case Study
Anne Springs Close Greenway is a 2,100‑acre private nonprofit nature preserve near Fort Mill, SC, that saw rapid growth in visitors and memberships—attendance rose from 90,000 (2012) to 300,000 (2022) and memberships jumped from about 2,600 households to over 18,000. When the COVID‑19 pandemic drove a 110% membership surge from 2019–2022, the Greenway needed scalable, efficient systems to handle increased demand and member management.
To meet that challenge the Greenway had implemented Blackbaud Altru in 2019 and added Cuseum digital membership cards, enabling instant mobile cards, digital renewals, and monthly payment options. The switch eliminated printed cards, saved an estimated $90,000 annually, recovered nearly 8,100 staff hours and offset 1,498 pounds of CO2 in the first 3½ years, and supported targeted marketing with Altru and Luminate Online—shifting focus from onboarding to retaining and growing membership through new programs and amenities.
