OPPO Strengthens Its Software Engineering System Ensuring security robustness with BSIMM

OPPO, a global smartphone maker with over 300 million users and significant R&D investment, faced growing risks around app, network and data security as it expanded its product and global footprint. To protect user privacy and embed security throughout development, OPPO needed a way to benchmark its practices, measure progress, and align its Software Engineering System with industry best practices.

OPPO partnered with Black Duck to run BSIMM assessments across multiple R&D sites, using interviews and on-site reviews to map current software security initiatives and produce prioritized recommendations and an SSI roadmap. After two years of assessments and targeted improvements, OPPO reports marked enhancements to its software development security, a clear upgrade plan, and stronger alignment with industry security practices.
