Making Code Quality a Business Priority with Coverity Static Analysis

Linx Printing Technologies, part of the Danaher Group, supplies industrial coding and marking systems used in food, beverage, pharmaceutical and automotive production lines where 24x7 uptime is critical. Facing real-time software stability and security challenges, embedded software manager Omara Williams set a “zero-defect” goal but had to convince management and skeptical developers that a static analysis tool could improve quality without slowing delivery.

Linx adopted Coverity Static Analysis, ran daily scans integrated into their Jenkins CI/CD pipeline and Jira workflow, and required feature-branch approval before merges. Coverity analyzed 1.7 million lines of code, 97% of issues found in year one were fixed, the zero-defect goal set in 2019 was reached by 2021, and Linx sustained a near‑flawless risk posture over the following 24 months—while developers began producing higher-quality code and catching defects before QA.
