Preview of the Waregem Case Study

Waregem connects City Hall and OCMW 500 meters apart with Black Box

The city of Waregem, Belgium, faced challenges with an aging network infrastructure that struggled to support its growing municipal services, public Wi-Fi, and building automation. Their lean IT team needed a secure and scalable solution to connect various facilities and reduce manual configuration errors. They partnered with Black Box to implement a new network architecture using Extreme Networks technology.

Black Box deployed a solution centered on Extreme Networks X670-G2 switches, replacing an old topology with a modern MLAG configuration for enhanced resilience. A new fiber-optic backbone was installed to connect distributed server rooms. This overhaul significantly improved network reliability and streamlined management, virtually eliminating downtime and configuration mistakes. The scalable infrastructure prepared Waregem for future smart city initiatives, all while providing a strong return on investment.
