Vornado Realty Trust faced significant wireless dead zones at One Beacon Court and 731 Lexington Avenue, where modern construction materials degraded radio-frequency signals and disrupted two-way radios, public-safety communications, and cellular/Wi‑Fi use for both residential and commercial tenants. To address this, Vornado engaged Black Box Network Services to design and deploy an in-building wireless infrastructure including a distributed antenna system (DAS) and WLAN solutions.

Black Box Network Services installed DAS throughout the building’s core and service levels and WLAN in residential foyers and galleries, enabling coverage across the 1.4-million-square-foot property (including 900,000 sq. ft. of office space and 105 residential units). The deployment delivered two-way radio and first-responder reliability, carrier-grade smartphone coverage—even in elevators, stairwells and parking garages—optionally extended Wi‑Fi in condos on request, and a future-ready platform that improved tenant connectivity, safety, and competitive advantage while reducing long-term upgrade costs.
