Virgin Holidays, a U.K.-based transatlantic tour operator, opened a “v-room” lounge at Gatwick Airport and needed to present destination information, hotel and theme-park features, and boarding alerts in an unobtrusive way that preserved a tranquil atmosphere. Static notice boards and loudspeaker announcements were unsuitable, so they adopted the Black Box® iCOMPEL™ integrated hardware/software appliance recommended by AV installers from Black Box Network Services.

Black Box Network Services deployed networked iCOMPEL appliances to deliver multi-zone video, scrolling RSS feeds, and staff-initiated override messages for real-time boarding updates; creative layouts kept Virgin Holidays’ branding subtle and moved non-urgent security notices onto screens rather than PA announcements. The result is a Gatwick v-room that provides up-to-the-minute news and entertainment, keeps passengers reliably informed of flight status, and maintains a peaceful lounge environment—achieved through real-time alerts, centralized content management, and multi-zone display capability.
