A Black Box Network Services Case Study

Preview of the Chainsaw Case Study

Untapping the Future of Hollywood Post Production with Black Box KVM Solutions

Chainsaw, a Hollywood post‑production house serving film and TV clients, faced a failing legacy KVM system: a copper backbone with end‑of‑life transmitters that lacked scalability, security and 4K support just as the company merged and moved into a new three‑story, 65,000‑sq‑ft facility. To modernize its infrastructure, Chainsaw selected Black Box Network Services and its DKM FX KVM matrix switching platform / high‑performance fiber‑based KVM solution.

Black Box Network Services installed a 288‑port modular DKM chassis with 107 Tx/Rx endpoints and 21 4K60 cards, enabling connectivity from 56 servers to 51 displays across edit, color, media prep rooms and the theater. The deployment delivered a seamless move, eliminated constant physical reconfiguration and rewiring, enabled building‑wide 4K access, reduced per‑room hardware costs, lowered noise by remote‑racking CPUs, and created an infrastructure engineered for 10+ years of growth.
