Schools Provide Tech-Savvy Classrooms for Students with Charging Carts

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the second-largest district in North Carolina serving more than 146,000 K–12 students, needed a way to securely store and charge thousands of school-owned Chromebooks as part of its Strategic Plan 2018 to achieve a 1:1 student-to-device ratio. To meet that classroom-level requirement, CMS selected Black Box Network Services to provide charging and storage solutions (charging carts) for its device rollout.

Black Box Network Services delivered 1,300 standard charging carts in June and July and another 500 during the school year, fulfilling an initial order of more than 1,300 carts in under six weeks with zero defects. Working with Applied Data Technologies for configuration and deployment, the carts’ cable-management system let technicians wire each cart in under 30 minutes—two to three times faster than competing options—enabling rapid, secure deployment that supported CMS’s large-scale digital learning initiative.
