Metro Passenger Transit System extends CCTV monitoring up to 550 m with Black Box Network Services

A major metro passenger transit system in India required an affordable solution to extend KVM signals over CATx and fiber for CCTV security monitoring across its stations, with distances ranging from 100 to 550 meters. The challenge also included connecting RS-232 CCTV joysticks with a specific pin configuration. The system integrator for the project turned to Black Box Network Services for a solution.

Black Box provided a solution using their KVX Series Extenders, specifically the KVXLC-100 for copper and the KVXLCF-100 with SFPs for fiber. To resolve the joystick connectivity issue, Black Box recommended and supplied USB-to-serial converters. The implemented solution successfully extended all signals over the required distances, allowing for effective 24/7 surveillance. The customer was so satisfied with the results and support that they placed a second order.
