Managed Service Provider, a global IT consulting and outsourcing company supporting 900 clients in 61 countries (and an end user with 44 factories in 39 countries), faced the challenge of securely accessing firewall consoles at remote sites across the UK, Germany, Australia, Chile, Poland, South Korea, and India. Configuration changes that required a reboot could leave devices without network access and force costly, time-consuming onsite visits. They engaged Black Box Network Services to address remote console access, specifically using the Black Box Remote Console Manager (LES1203A-M).

Black Box Network Services implemented LES1203A-M console servers with integrated V.92 modems (paired with a USR5686G modem for local administration), created and tested secure PSTN-based connections, and supplied customized user/setup guides for nontechnical staff. As a result, the Managed Service Provider can remotely access and monitor firewall console ports even when Ethernet connectivity fails, eliminating many onsite trips, reducing operational travel costs, improving firewall reliability and uptime, and providing a scalable remote-access solution for all locations.
