IP-video security and surveillance for road-works department

Road-Works Department, a city road-works authority in Germany responsible for installing and maintaining traffic and street lights, had recurring metal thefts from its outdoor storage area of lampposts and cable reels. To stop the thefts, the Road-Works Department engaged Black Box Network Services to provide an IP-video surveillance solution, including PoE-powered IP cameras, industrial Ethernet switches and wireless Ethernet extenders.

Black Box Network Services surveyed the site, installed three distributed camera locations with NEMA-rated PoE switches and pre-configured wireless extenders tied into the city LAN, and set up a 2x2 VideoPlex4 HD video wall for 24/7 monitoring; they also recommended back-racking gatehouse computers and provided a KVM extender and on-site training so staff can remotely control cameras and comply with legal shutdown requirements. The deployment delivered continuous, easy-to-manage surveillance, strengthened protection of stored materials, and earned praise from the customer for its consultancy, expertise and execution.
