Increasing guest safety and amenities through seamless wireless

Mandarin Oriental, New York — a Five‑Star hotel occupying the top 20 floors of the Time Warner Center with 251 guest rooms, a 14,500 sq. ft. spa, and more than 7,000 sq. ft. of meeting space serving ~225,000 guests annually — needed uninterrupted wireless coverage throughout the building (including elevators, parking garages and stairwells) and reliable two‑way radio communications for first responders and staff. To meet that requirement, Mandarin Oriental engaged Black Box Network Services to deliver a distributed antenna system (DAS) and WLAN solution.

Black Box Network Services conducted RF surveys, engineered the DAS/WLAN deployment, and managed design, procurement, installation and testing to provide seamless cellular, Wi‑Fi and two‑way radio coverage across the property. The solution improved guest services and staff efficiency (for example, real‑time coordination for VIP requests), enabled reliable emergency communications, and increased overall guest safety and satisfaction across the hotel’s 20 floors, 251 rooms and public spaces.
