I Hotel and Conference Center, a convention-class hotel in the University of Illinois Research Park, struggled with a limited CMS and frequent media-player failures across 23 displays (four wayfinders and 19 room marquees) that needed to show live conference video, schedules and social feeds. After engaging local integrator C.V. Lloyde, the customer selected Black Box Network Services’ iCOMPEL digital-signage solution to address performance, flexibility and reliability issues.

Black Box Network Services delivered a one-box iCOMPEL solution—one publisher and 23 iCOMPEL subscribers—paired with Black Box HD View transmitters/receivers in a centralized rack. The system was installed in about a week with no screens taken out of service, provided zoned layouts, on-the-fly updates, integrated video and social feeds, and eliminated frequent player failures; the upgrade improved reliability and content flexibility and opened new revenue opportunities through ad placements for I Hotel.
