A Black Box Network Services Case Study
Chicago Broadcasting Studio needed a reliable, flexible video extension and peripheral matrix switching system that would run over its existing Ethernet network and let forty producers, directors, technicians, and operators access more than sixty computers, servers, video sources, and camera feeds from any desk. After daily failures with a competitor’s older system — including slow switching, limited simultaneous access, poor USB peripheral support, uneven A/V quality, and high support burden — the studio turned to Black Box Network Services for a modern replacement.
Black Box Network Services deployed the ServSwitch™ Agility Extender platform — single- and dual-head transmitters and receivers that extend DVI, USB, and audio over the LAN — plus an Agility iPATH™ controller for centralized management. Demo units were quickly configured, transmitters were installed at each source and receivers at each workstation, and the system went live with minimal remote support. The result is a scalable, high‑quality matrix that lets 40 users access 60+ devices from any desk, greatly improved reliability and A/V consistency, reduced support tickets, and ongoing firmware and feature updates from Black Box Network Services.
