Cardiology practice, which relies on high-resolution nuclear imaging and a PACS for diagnosis, was facing slow transfers and data loss from a newly purchased $2 million imaging system that delayed patient diagnoses and prompted the manufacturer to consider taking the equipment back. Black Box Network Services’ LanScope was brought in as the vendor tool to verify network health and pinpoint the issue.

Black Box Network Services installed the LanScope between the processing station and the network, immediately identifying a hidden 10-Mbps half-duplex hub causing a bottleneck and ~1% data loss. After removing the hub and replacing it with a 100-Mbps full-duplex switch, data loss dropped to zero; LanScope testing showed the network could support up to 1G and its Traffic Generator sent 43,218 bytes with no loss and a 136 μs average round-trip time. Black Box Network Services’ intervention saved the $2 million deal, eliminated delays, and preserved the customer relationship.
