Case Study: La Roche College achieves centralized, real-time campus communications with Black Box Network Services' iCOMPEL

A Lesson on Effective Campus Communication with Digital Signage

La Roche College, a private Catholic institution of about 1,350 students, needed to enhance and centralize campus communications for wayfinding, emergency notifications and student outreach during a library renovation. To meet those objectives they selected Black Box Network Services and its iCOMPEL digital signage platform to provide centrally managed, easy-to-update displays that multiple departments could use.

Black Box Network Services installed iCOMPEL hardware and software—an HD Digital Signage Appliance with subscriber players—and five NEC commercial displays (two 40" in the campus center, two 40" in the fitness center and a 46" library sign). The system enabled fast, centralized content updates (deadlines, scores, cancellations), increased departmental and student-group participation in posting content, and became a relied-upon campus information channel; Black Box’s support smoothed implementation and the scalable iCOMPEL platform supports further expansion.
