Watco Companies, a privately owned transportation and logistics services provider based in Pittsburg, KS, needed to strengthen its customer-focused culture amid intense industry competition. The company faced high employee turnover, gaps in manager/supervisor training, weak customer service, and deficiencies in both technical and soft skills.
In 2015 Watco partnered with BizLibrary to launch Watco U Online using the BizLibrary LMS and content. Launched with fewer than 25 users, the program grew to 490 participants in one year, cut mandatory OSHA recertification time by 67% (saving ~$1,600 versus instructor-led training), and reduced turnover by 7% (saving over $3 million). Ninety-five percent of course completions were elective, signaling strong employee engagement, and the initiative improved both technical and soft skills and customer satisfaction.
