Bixal partnered with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to address significant challenges with SBA.gov. The website was difficult to navigate, failed to meet federal accessibility standards, and was not available in Spanish. As a result, 52% of visitors left the site immediately without engaging further. The SBA needed a customer-centered solution to better serve entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Bixal implemented a comprehensive content strategy and human-centered redesign. The solution involved extensive research, creating user personas, migrating content to Drupal 8, and developing a fully accessible, bilingual (English-Spanish) website. As a result, Bixal helped SBA.gov achieve a 443% increase in overall site visitors and a 186% increase in mobile traffic. The site also earned an A+ grade for organizational compliance from the Center for Plain Language.
