Genflix, launched by PT Mega Media Indonesia Group (Orange TV) in 2013, is Indonesia’s first commercial OTT multiscreen service offering live channels and video‑on‑demand across smartphones, tablets and desktops. Its core challenges were delivering HD/Full HD video and audio without buffering, supporting live and on‑demand streams with DRM, and ensuring consistent playback across all devices and platforms.
To meet these needs Irdeto partnered with bitmovin to deploy the bitdash MPEG‑DASH/HLS player (HTML5/Flash), providing smooth, low‑latency playback, DRM support and multi‑device compatibility up to HD/4K. The solution enabled Genflix’s successful launch and reliable multiscreen streaming with high quality playback and minimal startup delay.
