Multi-National Transportation Company engaged Bitglass during an annual audit when auditors asked to catalogue Shadow IT cloud apps on the network. The customer uploaded two weeks of firewall logs (about 2M lines per day) to Bitglass to support the compliance review.

Bitglass used its Breach Discovery Engine to identify four high‑risk cloud apps (top-ranked: YouTube, MSN, Facebook, Dropbox and Evernote) and uncovered sustained traffic to roughly 200 TOR nodes, revealing a major data exfiltration vector. Bitglass alerted the customer, who then traced the breached device and upgraded to next‑gen firewalls; the discovery shortened exposure time and helped limit damage that, on average, can last almost eight months.
