Preview of the Calcasieu Parish Public Schools Case Study

Large Louisiana school district shines light on endpoint security

Calcasieu Parish Public Schools, the fifth-largest district in Louisiana, was struggling to keep roughly 36,000 desktops, laptops and tablets plus physical and virtual servers secure and performing. Their previous Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) was memory‑intensive, lacked granular detection and cleanup capabilities, and missed outbreaks until users reported problems—an issue made clear when CryptoLocker began deleting files. After evaluating vendors, the district selected Bitdefender and its GravityZone Enterprise Security solution.

Bitdefender deployed GravityZone Enterprise Security (with an on‑premises console) across about 36,000 endpoints and 40 servers, completing the first phase in under two weeks. In the first week the solution cleared more than 5,000 infections from 7,000 endpoints, reduced help‑desk calls, improved device responsiveness by using less memory, and delivered granular dashboards and continuous runtime monitoring to detect, quarantine and prevent threats—providing measurable cleanup, faster performance and greater visibility for the district.
