American Airlines Credit Union, a Fort Worth-based financial cooperative serving 291,000 member-owners, needed a better way to manage high volumes of branch, member, loan, mortgage, and PCI-related documents. Its legacy capture system from 1997 relied on hard-coded zonal OCR templates and heavy manual keying, which slowed workflows and made it difficult to find, protect, and purge documents across nearly 20 years of records. BIS, Inc. was brought in with its intelligent document processing platform, Grooper.

BIS, Inc. implemented Grooper to automate document capture, indexing, and ECM-related workflows. The result was faster processing, including cutting mortgage handling time in half and capturing 95% of direct deposit form data, while saving support services about three hours per employee each day—more than 3,000 hours annually. BIS, Inc. also helped the credit union identify and export over 40,000 PCI-related documents from a billion-page repository, significantly improving efficiency, member service, and data security.
