VEX Robotics uses BirdDog for Nationals Live Event

VEX Robotics, an organization creating tools to inspire student engagement in STEM education, faced the challenge of producing a high-quality live stream and in-venue experience for its Australian Nationals event on a tight budget. The production required covering six robot fields and onstage presentations, a task traditionally requiring expensive outside broadcast trucks. To achieve this, they turned to vendor BirdDog and its NDI-based technology.

BirdDog's solution utilized its Studio NDI hardware to encode and decode video over an IP network, feeding multiple camera feeds into vMix production software. This setup provided immense flexibility and rock-solid stability for the entire weekend event at a fraction of the traditional cost and complexity. The successful implementation by BirdDog allowed VEX Robotics to create a compelling sporting event atmosphere that significantly increased student motivation and engagement.
