P4K at The Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance

The Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance at Monash University needed to create a state-of-the-art digital hub for global, real-time collaborations and to upgrade its production capabilities with high-quality, IP-based video. They sought a solution to route broadcast-quality video over their existing IP infrastructure, moving away from traditional cabling, and later required 4K cameras to facilitate professional remote learning and productions.

BirdDog implemented a solution using its NDI technology, including BirdDog Mini converters for flexible encoding and decoding. The core of the camera upgrade was the BirdDog P4K, chosen for its 4K resolution, superb picture quality, and full NDI capabilities. The results were exceptional, with the team reporting they were "blown away" by the quality and ease of use. The single-cable P4K solution enabled small, often one-person teams to produce professional-level broadcasts, allowing for remote masterclasses and performances with partners around the world.
